I have always been fascinated by hardware and by building things. From an early age I did a lot of hardware projects, mostly around the 6502 and Motorola 68000 families of CPUs. I was already writing a lot of assembly language, so the jump to hardware was pretty easy.

One of those projects became my most ambitious one. Around 1990, with no documentation to go on, I reverse-engineered the Sega Mega Drive (the Sega Genesis in North America) and built my own development kit for it. The post below tells the whole story.
